Mission to Mars
16 March 2000
I had to write to you to let you know how on the ball your review of this stinker was. My friends and I saw this in a packed theater in Glendale last Saturday night, and there were more than a few snickers and laughter in inappropriate places. We actually left the theater wondering how this film could ever be made, and which reviewers would be brave enough to give it the truly poor reviews it deserves given the Disney backing. And I heard a lot of people making heated comments after as they left the theater about what a waste of money it was to produce this.
I loved the comment about the actors drawing straws to see he would get to die–my friend said the same thing afterwards.
Hi, there! Thanks for your comments, and sorry for my belated response (I was out of town). I'm not quite sure what they were thinking with this movie, but it seems like most of the reaction has been negative. I'm generally a big fan of science-fiction, but not in this case. There's another Mars movie coming out in a few months called Red Planet. Let's hope they do a better job with that one!
